Assistant Principal News

STEM Enrichment Program
Last week, the Year 6 STEM Enrichment Program facilitated by Mr Andrew Kenneally at Carroll College, commenced. This three-week program runs fortnightly, with students participating in groups of 10 to ensure everyone has an opportunity to take part throughout the year.

Our students are joined by students from St Bernard’s Batemans Bay, fostering relationships, helping them become familiar with the high school environment, and engaging in an academically enriching experience.

Lunchtime Activities for Students
At St Mary’s we are seeing a greater uptake of students enjoying some of the extra opportunities for activities at break times. These lunchtime activities provide students with a chance to take a break from the busy playground and enjoy some different opportunities with their peers. We encourage all students to take part and make the most of these opportunities! Here’s what’s on offer each week:

Monday: Choir
Tuesday: Table tennis
Wednesday: Mini Vinnies
Thursday: Guitar / Lego & Board game Club
Friday: Library / Lego & Board game club

Harmony Day & Closing the Gap in Education
At St Mary’s we recognise and celebrate both Harmony Day and Close the Gap Day as important events that reflect our commitment to inclusivity, respect, and reconciliation. Harmony Day, usually held on March 21st, promotes cultural diversity and encourages unity by celebrating the rich backgrounds of all people in Australia. It is a day to embrace belonging and acceptance, reinforcing the message that "Everyone Belongs." Close the Gap Day, observed in March, raises awareness about the health and well being gap between First Nations Australians and non-Indigenous Australians. It is a call to action for health equality, reminding us of the importance of reconciliation and working together to ensure fairness and justice for all. By acknowledging these days, we foster a school community that values respect, understanding, and the dignity of every person.

Save the Date – 2025 Enrolments
Our official enrolment period for 2025 begins in Term 2 (5 May – 23 May). If you know families with children starting Kindergarten next year, please encourage them to attend our Open Day on Tuesday, 6 May (Week 2, Term 2). This is a wonderful opportunity to experience life at St Mary's and see our school in action.
